Presented By: DRI's Trucking Law Committee

Attendees will hear from an experienced Professional Engineer with extensive experience in crash data retrieval and analysis and from a seasoned trucking lawyer regarding non-traditional sources of electronic data that can be used to vigorously defend motor carriers and drivers in your trucking cases. Specifically, attendees will learn about the electronic data (other than a passenger vehicle’s airbag control module (ACM) or a commercial vehicle’s electronic control module (ECM)) that may be gathered following a collision, including infotainment systems, collision avoidance systems, ABS systems, traffic signal data loggers, and more. Additionally, the speakers will discuss best practices associated with the collection and preservation of these non-traditional sources of electronic data and how you can use the data obtained from such non-traditional sources in your trucking cases. 

 Who Should Attend: 

  • Young attorneys and transportation specialists and practitioners who are new to trucking or general litigation
  • Practicing trial lawyers handling regulation-heavy trucking litigation and/or dealing with pre-suit and/or post-suit vehicle investigations on a regular basis
  • Trucking industry representatives, risk managers, brokers, and/or claims adjusters seeking to enhance their knowledge regarding the non-traditional electronic data that can be obtained from a vehicle (passenger and commercial) following a collision, the collection and preservation of such data, and how such data can be used in a trucking case.

What Will You Learn?:

  • The evolution of non-traditional sources of electronic data and the type of data that can be captured from such non-traditional sources
  • The best policies and practices for collecting non-traditional sources of electronic data following a collision
  • An overview of what the data extracted from non-traditional electronic data can show you about the vehicle(s) and driver(s) involved in the collision
  • How you can use the data obtained from these non-traditional sources to rigorously defend motor carriers and drivers and your trucking case.

DRI will apply for CLE in your state upon request in writing to cle@dri.org. 

Once the approval is received, DRI will report your attendance to your local state agency where applicable. For more information, please see the "Post Seminar Action" for your state below.

Approval times can take anywhere from 4 - 6 weeks.


Alaska

CLE programs which take place outside of Alaska are not required to be accredited by the Alaska Bar Association. Alaska Bar members may claim credit for attendance at CLE programs offered in or from other jurisdictions if the program has been accredited by another MCLE jurisdiction.
